Recorded books are an accommodation: a way
for a student to access educational material in a format that promotes content
acquisition and retention, without requiring the student to have the kind of
decoding and reading skills that science proves he or she is not neurologically
"well wired" to do. We are a tool in the toolbox, not the toolbox
itself. Recorded books are good for ELL
students, visually impaired students, students with learning difficulties, and
also, struggling readers and nonreaders.
